Celebrating Independence Day in the Black Hills

With a national monument that draws people from all over the world and breath-taking views that make you really appreciate the beauty of our country, the Black Hills are the perfect place to be during the 4th of July. There are many events taking place throughout the area that let you and your family join in on fun, live music, great food, and fireworks during your stay here at the Quality Inn and Suites in Rapid City. Main Street Square, Downtown Rapid City – Starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 4th, Main Street Square will be hosting an Independence Day celebration where guests can enjoy live music before the spectacular evening fireworks show. As part of the Thursdays on the Square series, food and beer vendors will be on location to provide yummy eats and cold drinks. The Square also features a grassy area perfect for setting out a blanket and lounging with the family with snacks while you watch the sparkling display. Elks Club, Rapid City – Head over to the Rapid City Elks Lodge on Saturday, July 6 for an Independence event complete with a fishing derby starting at 4 p.m., bouncy houses, hay rides and games for the kids, and plenty of delicious food from local food trucks. A fireworks display will begin at dusk.

Custer's Old Time Country Fourth of July Celebration, Custer – On July 3-4, the city of Custer will be holding their annual July 4th extravaganza, complete with a children’s fair, live music, a parade, an arts and crafts fair, and, of course, fireworks! For a full schedule of events, click here.

Black Hills Roundup, Belle Fourche – The 100th Annual Black Hills Roundup is taking place June 30 – July 7, and this year is going to be bigger than ever. There are many events occurring during the Roundup, with a fireworks show being held on July 3 and July 5 at 10 p.m. Click here for more information and a full schedule of events.

1880 Train, Hill City – The 1880 Train’s July 4th Celebration lets you take in jaw-dropping views of the Black Hills while on an authentic steam train, with a fun Western shootout taking place beforehand during the 6:45 p.m. departures on July 3, 5 and 6. Reservations for this popular event are recommended.

Miner Brewing Company, Hill City – Join this local brewery on July 4 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. for their free event, Miner Brewing Music Series Presents: Hank Harris.
